Emma + Chris' Mystic Seaport Wedding
Emma + Chris tied the knot last September in a beautiful church ceremony, followed by a wonderful reception at the Mystic Seaport. Their entire day was filled with so much joy, love and happiness and we’re so excited to be sharing it here on the My Mystic Wedding blog! Emma is joining us today to share their story about how they met, the proposal, their wedding day, and her advice for other couples planning their wedding.
“Chris and I both grew up in the same small town together. Throughout life we would always continue to bump into one another at sporting events, mutual friends’ get-togethers, and just being out and about. One summer night in 2013, we bumped into one another and something felt different. From there we grew a great friendship which turned into an even better relationship.”
“It was Friday, October 28th, 2016 and Chris and I were getting ready to go on a trip to California on Monday. That day while I was at work he sent me text saying, "let's go out tonight and celebrate that we are officially on vacation. I have to stay a work a little later, but when I get home we will head out." I thought this sounded like a pretty great plan. I was watching TV in our apartment when he finally walked in from work. He went to change quick and came back out into the living room, eager to go. As we headed for the door, he stopped me. I turned to him, confused as to what was going on. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was completely speechless and couldn't process that this moment was really happening! I of course said yes, and it was the most perfect moment.”
“Chris and I got married on 9/8/2018. We had our ceremony at Saint Agnes in Niantic, Connecticut, the church that my father grew up going to as a kid. We did not do a first look, so walking into the church and seeing Chris felt like we were the only two people in the whole church.”
“From there we headed to Latitude 41 in Mystic, and it was the exact day we were hoping for. A day filled with love, fun, laughter, and enjoying life with friends and family. It was the very best day. My favorite part of the whole day was our first dance. It was the official kickoff to a wonderful evening of celebrating.”
“My advice for couples is to not sweat the small stuff. Things will not always go as you exactly planned, and while that may bring a moment of panic, remember what your day is about. Remember why you're doing all this. It goes by in an instant and you should enjoy every single moment of it.”
Thank you, Emma + Chris for sharing your absolutely beautiful wedding day with us!
